A basic principle of the Zone Diet is the consumption of protein with each meal and snack. Adequate protein intake throughout the day helps maintain your muscles and a healthy immune system. The Zone Diet recommends that females should have approximately 21g of protein and males approximately 28 g of protein at every meal. Although there are many convenient sources of carbohydrates, one often scrambles to find a ready-to-eat, convenient protein source.
